We decided to change hosting companies a couple of months back and have been trying to reintegrate the old site into the new format. Well the backups and databases files see each other but basically make a mess of everything. This said, I took a few deep breaths and poured myself a BIG coffee and started in on the data input.

Why the change?

The fees associated with hosting a website yourself can add up to be quite substantial. We looked at needs vs wants, we need this much space and bandwidth and SSL, we want options for expanding the shop website and easy of back ups, new product additions etc… With my having to recover from surgery on both hands for most of the upcoming summer I will not be doing much in the shop, besides updates on the site and if that maybe.

Is the new site secure?

As a matter of fact it is as secure as you can get. We follow all the requirements for a secure site SSL certification, Our URL begins with “https” instead of “http” it means the site is secured using an SSL Certificate (the s stands for secure). SSL Certificates secure all of your data as it is passed from your browser to the website’s server.

What changes will the new site provide?

A secure commerce site for starters, and faster loading of images, commerce sites like our can and usually are image heavy. With our new host we have caching and images optimization for a faster browsing experience. And a new layout means finding items easier..or at least we hope so.

Why do I not see many products?

With the mess of inputting products from a backup not going well, I am adding products back into the site on a daily basis, some items will no longer be available on the new site. We are currently going through our list of products and are adding the ones we feel meet the needs of clients.

So we ask that you check back often to see what has been added, the new Facebook shop integration is going ..um ah..ok.. FB doesn’t like the fur items or one particular belt because I mentioned you can strap a knife to you and keep your pants up.

We want to thank everyone who spreads the word of our wee shop, after all without you guys n gals we wouldn’t have made it to 5 yrs and growing.
