Restigouche Knife | Kings County Forge River Series

Restigouche Knife

We named this knife after the Restigouche River that is in the northern section of New Brunswick nestled in the Appalachian mountains.

This area was home to the Mi’gmaq Nation for centuries, the Restigouche watershed is a land of many mountains and unspoiled vistas and we thought what perfect name for this knife.

The handle of this bushcraft knife is stacked birch bark that is put between honey coloured bone, add some red spacer for a little flash of colour.

And the birch bark handle on the Restigouche has such an amazing feel, gives the a real connection and feel to the work you are doing with this knife.

Every Restigouche knife comes with a natural leather sheath that is wet formed and waxed to seal the leather and make it a perfect fit.

The sheath is made from 7/8 oz leather and has a birch bark inlay and a row of decorative lacework along the top edge.

Well here are a couple of factors that we used to make our final decision on handle material.

Birch bark handles are simply attractive
Have or transmit more “feel”
Not slippery or rough
Easy maintenance
